I would like to start by thanking LCSD, the Toledo Community, Toledo High Schools staff, students, Administration, and all Past Administrations for allowing me to coach and represent the school and community that I love for the past two decades. I would also like to personally thank Jon Zagel and his coaching staffs at Newport High School who have always went out of their way and treated me with amazing class and respect. I also want to thank Waldport, Taft, and Siletz and their communities for the respect they have shown me and my teams over this time as well. During the last two decades, I have had such amazing people come into my life between my players, coaches, assistant coaches, and community members. They have given me so many memories that I will cherish the rest of my lifetime. I want to thank a few people that helped me get started in coaching. First my Uncle Francis Marthaller for first teaching me the ropes of coaching. April and Babe Brown for giving me the confidence that coaching was something I could really pursue. Kent Rilatos and Jeff Byrd for giving me my start with the high school football program. Together this duo was almost unbeatable and I enjoyed riding on their coat tails and learning the game from them. Randy Nyquest who gave me my start with the high school basketball coach. He carried himself with so much class and confidence, which is something I always tried to mimic throughout my career. Growing up my parents and grandma taught me to work hard, be dedicated, caring, and respectful. Besides my parents I believe I have had many other people shape me into the man I am today and I would like to thank a few of them personality. First was Jess Wilson who is the most caring and compassionate man I have ever met. Jess was my teacher growing up and then became my assistant coach when I started coach the girls basketball team. He taught me that everyone deserves a fresh start everyday regardless of their past. This is something I have tired to put in use in my whole life not just in coaching. I have always tried to forgive quickly and move ahead because of the lessons he thought me. When I was growing up Willie Worman was the strongest and most intimating man around. So when Willie started coaching with me I was unsure what to expect but he show me what the true meaning of strength really was. Willie was never afraid to show that he was caring and loving to all of his player while still being strong, competitive, and if you were on his side he would have your back to the very end. He showed me strength did not come from being strong but yet from making everyone us feel empowered. My Father-in-law, Tim Limbert is the most committed and hardest working man I know and some of the time does work with little to no credit given to him. Even thou, he may not always be thanked for his work, Tim goes out of his way to make sure everyone that does anything for him always gets thanked. He said to me that I need to be praising others for help no matter how big or small it maybe. He taught me how important it was to make everyone feel appreciated. I want to also thank Rod Cross for being supportive of me over the last decade. I would talk to Rod on a daily basis for support and guidance. He was always there no matter what through the good and the bad. Last I would like to thank Steve Brattain for being a mentor to me for all the years we were together. He taught me so many valuable lessons but the most important thing he always talked about was having balance in my life. Not just balance between coaching and family but also balance with the way I coached different players. Besides my family, there is no one in my life I trust and respect more then him. I would also like to thank all of the great coaches I have coached with over the years like Al Burkey, Blaine Liberatore, DeeAnne Barnhart, Eric Earls, Gerry Ard, Jeremy Breon, Jeremy Edwards, Jori Wilson, Josh Coxen, Judy Imbler, Kyle Wolf, Leo Yasinski, Mick Bittick, Mike Curran, Mysti Huntsucker, Nikki Holland, Rodney Warfield, Ron Beckham, Roy Kinion, Sid Richardson, Stu Curry, Todd West, Wendi Nyquest, and anyone else I may have missed. These coaches not only had a great effect on my life but countless players and students that came through Toledo High School and I thank them for all they have done for me and the kids. I would also like to thank Toledo Booster Club and all of the parents and players throughout the years for the tremendous support given to me. Most importantly I need to thanks family who has been there and supported me throughout my coaching career. Especially my beautiful wife, Janna Limbert who would sacrifice and on night where I got home at 1 or 2 in the morning would have to take care of both of our boys by herself. The decision to end my coaching career comes with a very heavy heart as I truly love our community, school, and my players, but I really feel like my hand is being forced. My goal has been the same for the past two decades, which is to see Toledo be the best it can possibly be. I want to wish my school the best of luck in the future.
