I wrote this poem today for my Mommy, Donna Smedley Well, life is tough Thats what people say I know its rough Remembering you every day Anything can happen Ive learned through the years One minute youre laughin And then you burst into tears I miss your smile, your eyes, And everything about you Your exasperated sighs When I didnt know what to do. Things have changed so much In these last four years I long for your touch And then I burst into tears. I hear a song echoing in my mind Your favorite gospel hymn That I will remember for all time From the hour you went home to Him. I pick up my flute and lay it down. Because everything is so clear As I remember its somber sound And I burst into tears. Snow and ice and bitter cold A hard image to see, Im glad of the blankets fold Put around you, from me. Youre in Heaven above, And I miss you every second, every year Im sending you all my love... As I wipe away another tear.
