IBB and Abdulsalami are not middlebelters by origin, so ppl should stop saying the middlebelt has ruled Nigeria for 18 yrs. It is not enough for anybody claiming to be from Minna, Jos or anywhere else in the middlebelt that qualifies them as middlebelters. Being a middlebelter is being from a minority group of central Nigeria. If IBB or Abdulsalami are claimed to be from Gbagyi or Nupe, pls someone should tell us the nupe or Gbagyi village/community and the clan or sub-tribe they are from, otherwise both of them can never be middlebelters in the real sense. Babangida Muazu (governor of Niger state), although he claims to be from Minna, but his hausa roots from Sokoto are not hidden at all. Yakubu Gowon is an Ngas man from Lur in kanke, Plateau. His identity is unquestionable in no time. And he is the only one that can be called a middlebelter who has ever ruled Nigeria.
