ID 2014-1043 Location US-MI-Southfield Category General Labor Type Regular Full Time Pay Type Hourly More information about this job: Job Description: Position Description Summary Position: Sorter Job Family: Production Reports To: Ops Supervisor Location: All MRF plants FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grade: Role Purpose: To ensure proper placement and sorting of recyclable materials on the conveyor line so that outbound recycling materials are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sort paper and other recyclable materials such as glass, plastic bottles and aluminum cans; Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or places in container according to type, size, condition, coloring or paper grade; Pull contaminants out of paper or off of floor; Distinguish between various grades of paper or sorting; Dump boxes and totes of Material, stack boxes and skids; Comply with proper safety policies and procedures; Performs other duties as required. Computer Skills: None Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver license at all times Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job you are regularly required to stand, used hands or finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Must regularly lift 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds; stand for long periods of time; bend and stoop; work in an unheated and non air-conditioned environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. The noise level may be moderate to loud in the presences of machinery.
