IF ABACO-GRAND BAHAMA & ELEUTHERA, EXUMA-LONG ISLAND WERE SEPARATE COUNTRIES, or UNIFIED STATES IN A FEDERATION, THEY COULD BECOME RICHER THAN THE ENTIRE BAHAMAS IS NOW. In 10 years they could have a GDP above $15 billion dollars. They possess natural beauty, strategic locations, cohesive communities, direct management and administration, a history of creativity, independent minded people toughened by sea-life, not overly dependent on Civil Service jobs, low red-tape and a vibrant entrepreneurial sense, would propel these islands toward the best economies in the Caribbean Basin. (Treasure Cay and Harbour Island are already little global luxury treasures within Abaco and Exuma, the strategic values of which cannot be imagined or decided in Nassau). The Exumas (which, along with Turks and Caicos are potentially a tropical Monaco in the Caribbean), themselves could become a $2 to 3 billion dollar Exclusive Destination Luxury Zone. Grand Bahama and Abaco in Tech, Medical Tourism and Light Manufacturing, Eleuthera as a Luxury Retirement Destination and Long-island in Food Production, Fisheries, together with Abaco in Yachting and Boating; with Eleuthera and Long Island becoming a global centre for Plantation Research, Reef and Oceanic Studies, International Diving (together with Abaco, Eleuthera and Exuma) and Education.
