ILP conference in Mazar-e Sharif Mazar-e Sharif, May 2014.The EUPOL Field Office together with Kabul Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) experts organized 28 May an ILP conference in the regional police training center in Mazar-e-Sharif. This conference was a follow-up from similar occasions held in Kabul in January and Herat in February. The goal of the ILP conference was to support the Afghan National Police in Balkh Province in the development of the ILP cycle as well as development and implementation of tools for information management. At the same time the National Information Management System (NIMS) was introduced and it was explained how this tool is going to support the ILP process on a daily basis. The main speakers were the Acting Head of EUPOL, Juhani Hyotylainen, Deputy Provincial Commander of Police, Colonel Razaq, General Farid from the National Training and Education Center (NTEC), Major Wahidullah as Chief Intel, Mohammad Reza from the NIMS (National Information Management System) development team, Lieutenant Colonel Najiba as Chief of Human Rights & Gender and Aaron Newman from the EUPOL ILP unit Kabul. The conference provided an opportunity to gather all information authorities and leading staff of all management levels of police in Balkh Province to share their experience and get more insights in the process of ILP. The total number of participants were 41 persons from which 34 were Afghan counterparts. The participants had an excellent chance to deepen their understanding of the ILP cycle and NIMS as the information management system supporting ILP cycle as well as their step by step implementation to the daily work.
