IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: This is to officially inform all the officers, members, and as well as the supporters of the De Basilan World Association, that I have tendered my IRREVOCABLE RESIGNATION as its PRESIDENT and CHAIRMAN of the De Basilan World Foundation since March 6, 2013. However, I will still serve our association in my capacity as a member of the Board of Directors. It is my strong belief that at this juncture, our Association and Foundation needs a NEW LEADER with NEW IDEAS and NEW DIRECTION. Understand, I have been your President since its inception in July 2007, and where in the course thereof, we were able to organize 3 major world reunions in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco. And in the process, besides reconnecting Basileños around the world, it has generated more than 400 members. What actually prompted me to take this sudden turn is because my family and I would like to faithfully continue the legacy of my late father, Bob Tugung, through modest programs, projects and activities in Basilan under the Bob Tugung Peace and Development Foundation, Inc., of which I am its President and Chairman of the Board. And clearly, there would be a CONFLICT OF INTEREST in my role in my late father’s Foundation and that of my role in our association and foundation. Last April 6, 2013, the officers and members of the Board of Directors have elected MR. ROMY DAMILES as its PRESIDENT. I know him personally as an able, skilled and competent organizer and leader. He is an officer of the Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Freemasonry, and President of the Filipino-American Association in Modesto, California. With his strong credentials, I trust that our association will be in good hands. Let us all support Mr. Damiles and the thrust of our association to serve our island province. In this regard, those projects that were submitted to me, and those, which Leo Omoso and I have secured last year from some of the private and public agencies in Basilan, rest assured I have submitted and endorsed them to the Board of Directors of the De Basilan World Foundation for their consideration and appropriate action. Finally, let me take this opportunity to thank all of you for the support, trust and confidence that you have given me during my humble tenure.
