IMPORTANT NOTE - the Executive regrets that we have had to cancel this weekends Parade of Bands. The following was just sent to all bands, please spread the word. Dear bands, We regret to inform you we have had to cancel the Parade of Bands at the State Championships this weekend. Due to the rainfall Adelaide has received this week, the Marryatville Front oval is soggy and the school has stated it cannot be used. The Drill Advisory Board have inspected the school, and determined there are no suitable roads within the school due to either width of the road or presence of speed bumps. While unfortunate, the Executive therefore feel we have no choice but to cancel the event. We have floated the idea today of holding a separate marching championships later in the year, possibly combined with the Champion of Champions event. This would of course be non compulsory, but will allow bands who have been preparing for the Parade of Bands to showcase their hard work. We realise this does not help our regional bands, for which we can only apologise and ask for your understanding. As a result of this cancellation, the social function and results ceremony will be moved forward to approximately 3:30 pm in the Foyer of the Forge. The exact timing will depend on how both venues run throughout the day - please watch Facebook or ask an Executive member for more details on Sunday. We will have Coopers clear, dark and mild ales on sale for $5 and cans of soft drink for $2. Nibbles will be provided by the SABA. Kind regards, Bronwyn
