INTRODUCING PITMAN POLICE DEPARTMENTS FIRST K-9 TEAM... On behalf of the Pitman Police Department, I want to welcome our newest addition to the force, K-9 Ranger. K-9 Ranger was brought back this evening from the Philadelphia Police K-9 Academy by his handler, Patrolman E.J. Parker. He is a Belgian Malinois that was imported from Hungary in Europe. Patrolman Parker will begin training on August 18th at the Philadelphia K-9 Academy. He and K-9 Ranger must obtain Patrol and Scent training certification before hitting our streets. Dont expect to see K-9 Ranger any time soon. He will be living at the K-9 Academy for the next ten weeks or so, and wont actually be on patrol in Pitman until sometime next year. The Pitman Police Department chose to name our First K-9 Dog, Ranger, in honor of one of our own hometown heroes, Sandrino Plutino. Sandrino was an Army Ranger killed by enemy gunfire in Afghanistan back in 2011. He was only 28 years old at the time of his death. It was a difficult choice, but this is the direction that we decided to go with the dogs name. Please welcome and support our new K-9 Tandem. This process has been an enormous amount of work and commitment, and we anticipate positive results in the near future. Once again, thanks to all those that have donated to make this program possible! Respectfully, Chief Robert T. Zimmerman P.S. Please keep the comments positive, and please no questions...
