IS IT PERMISSIBLE TO TEACH AND LEARN MAGIC The great scholar and Imaam Ibn al-Quddaamah al-Maqdisee (May Allaah have mercy upon him) said: “Teaching magic or learning it is prohibited (haraam) we know of no disagreement between the people of knowledge concerning it.” Our companions (I.e. fellow jurists of his school of law and jurisprudence) state: “The magician disbelieves by his teachings and action whether he believes it (i.e. magic) is impermissible or permissible.” Translated by: Taalib Alexander
