“ISKOLAR NG LUNGSOD NG SAN PEDRO (ILSP)” The City Government of San Pedro, under the leadership of City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, launched the “Iskolar ng Lungsod ng San Pedro (ILSP)” today, September 9, 2014 at the City Hall of San Pedro. The scholarship program was presented by City Administrator Filemon I. Sibulo and City Councilor Leslie Lu. The program recognizes that poverty is one of the main causes for children to drop out or fail to get proper education. Under this scholarship program, students from low-income families and are not capable to afford to go to school are provided an opportunity to pursue and realize their dreams. The program provides them access to quality education, boost literacy, improve socio-economic status and promote activities for development such as, trainings, projects and seminars. The scholarship program is open to all less privileged but deserving students who possess academic excellence and artistic ability in the areas of visual and performing arts, athletics, student’s extra-curricular activities and community service record. The launching was attended by other city officials, including Councilor Diwa Tayao, and heads of public and private academic institutions.
