Iam a christian and a devout one at that.but iam against the use of prayers as the only remedy and solution to our problems.prayers are offered in schools to help kids pass exams,prayers are offered in our roads to stop road accidents,prayers are made to stop terrorism.all these are misplaced prayers.to pass exams work hard.to stop accidents,enforce traffic laws.to stop terror,fight corruption in the immigration dept otherwise all these prayer meetings are in vain.i was amused the other day in church when the pastor led the congregation in emotional chants of kenya belong to jesusi couldnt bring myself to chant along for it all sounded hollow.this was their way of fighting terrorism.and from what i saw the congregation was convinced that just by chanting they had struck terrorism a fatal blow,that is until the next terrorist attack.i was therefore not surprised when the first stop for the newly appointed security minister was in his hometown of kajiado to attend a prayer meeting organised for him.a few months ago a similar meeting was held at the same venue for the disgraced ole lenku who preceeded him.
