Ian Bryce, VP of the Secular Party, is actively working to export - TopicsExpress

Ian Bryce, VP of the Secular Party, is actively working to export the NSW model (which FIRIS rejects) to other states. In his presentation he calls what is happening in NSW a "winning formula". FIRIS calls it a complete failure to deal with the nature of the problem, and a policy that completely avoids dealing with the problems caused by SRI. Having alternatives to SRI such as an Ethics Curriculum being delivered by other volunteers, no matter how well trained and prepared only serves to legitimise the place of ACCESS Ministries in our schools and only further supports their efforts. Furthermore an Ethics Curriculum serves to validate the repeated and false accusations from conservative politicians that our public schools are "value free zones" and undermines the excellent work of our public school teachers and erodes public confidence in these schools that are portrayed as lacking values and ethics serving to drive more and more families away from public education thereby endangering the very fabric of our democratic society. We need to trust families to do the task of looking after the faith education of their own children. If we don’t leave it to families and ask public education to become responsible, we forfeit a lot, including the secular nature of public education. scribd/doc/166621513/Ian-Bryce-s-efforts-to-export-the-NSW-Ethics-model-to-all-Australian-States
