Id just like to say a big thanks to all those who borrowed my novels from libraries during the last year up to July. Book sales are the bedrock of a writers career, but in tough times the annual statement from the Public Lending Rights people can be a lifeline even at 6p a loan. So lets do everything we can to keep libraries in business. Without my local library Id never have become the voracious reader I am, and you dont become a writer unless you read. More and more people throughout the UK are being forced to turn to food banks. It goes without saying that if you cant afford to eat, you certainly cant afford to buy books. So theres an argument that our libraries have never been more vital to the future wellbeing of this country, especially for the young disadvantaged. Here endeth todays lesson ...
