Id like to ask a question to everybody concerning this song. We know that this song is about Peters father, about the fact hes missing him. The song also mentions how his father taught him to be a man, by hiding his feelings and his tears. Now heres my question. In the chorus, Peter sings I wont cry, and yet all his voice expressiveness seems to embody the intonation of complaint and sadness. As if the music was deliberating contradicting what the lyrics said. As if the melody made the words lie. I always found this passage extremely subtle in terms of expression, because its as though the melody was revealing what he truly feels inside even if he was trying to hold back his tears, when he thinks of him, to be faithful to the commandements of his father.
