Id like to point out a couple of extra twists involving this light engine move on the BNSF Railways Strong City Subdivision at Lost Springs, Kan., on Sept. 19, 1997. The five locomotives were in the process of passing over the location of the original Santa Fe Trail that existed in the mid-1880s before railroads started being built across the state. Secondly, note the two rather clean blue and white locomotives in the consist. They more lettering of the Alabama & Gulf Coast Railway and such engines are not commonly seen in Kansas. To this day, Ive always wondered how and why these engines were in Kansas, especially on the Strong City Sub.
