If one needed evidence that our region is home to some fine musicians producing cutting-edge music, this quartet would easily suffice. I met Chris Demetriou last Winter, when he was performing solo as Last Dot, and was blown away by the stuff he was doing. Then I saw him again as part of the backbone of this years Ithaca Underground Naked Noise event, and was even more impressed. I had heard that his work with The Kraken Quartet quartet was the defining effort, and was eager to see that project in concert - but they have been off touring all Summer, and it wasnt until they finally returned to Ithaca to headline an IU show at The Haunt that I finally had the opportunity. And boy, were the rumors true and then some. KQ is awesome, eclectic, complex but very accessible, music to make you both move and think at the same time... So, here is The Kraken Quartet performing Jalapeno Chips at The Haunt on August 1st, 2014. Videography, editing and post-production by Jonathan A. Hochberg. Additional video and Kraken Quartet logo provided by Andrew Dobros. Sound engineered by Raymond DAddario.
