If there is one thing that I cant be more thankful for this month and always, its my mom. She is by far the strongest woman I know (I mean she has to put up with me (; ). Even after everything she has been through she still has a smile on her face. These past few months have really been hard on not only her, but also our family. When my mother was first diagnosed with cancer I cant explain the fear that took over my body. The first question that came racing to my mind was Is she going to be okay? followed by the question Will she be able to watch her one and only child grow up?. Cancer is a life changing disease for the patient and the immediate family. My mom was faced with one of the toughest decisions, to have surgery as soon as possible or wait. She decided to have surgery right away, and it was the best decision she has ever made, even if it meant she had to miss a few of my soccer games. If she would have waited a few months or even a few weeks the outcome may not have been what it is today. My mother is 100% cancer free without any radiation or chemo needed. She tells her story with a huge smile on her face and she knows she did the right thing. My mom is the strongest person I know. She was able to fight and WIN the battle against a terrible disease, something I would never be able to do. If there is one thing I have learned from my moms battle with cancer it is this: In life, never take anything for granted. Everything you have can easily be taken from you in a matter of seconds. Something that happens at one moment can totally change the outcome of your life and the lives of others. Finally, never and I honestly mean never, waste a moment to tell someone you love them because you never know when they will not be there and you werent be able to tell them you love them. Mom, I love you more than anything in the world and I know sometimes that I might not always show it, but you are truly my hero.
