If you are interested, a graduate student is reaching out for participation in a research study. This is not in any way affiliated with ABA Center for Excellence or staff, and is informational. The information provided is listed below: Relationship satisfaction and raising a child with Autism If you, or someone you know, are currently over the age of 18, in a romantic relationship of at least 6 months, and currently the caregiver for an individual on the Autism Spectrum, you may qualify to participate in a study exploring the variability in relationship satisfaction of parents and caregivers of individuals diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. WHAT IS THE QUESTIONNAIRE ABOUT? This questionnaire is to begin looking at the variability in the population of parents raising a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in terms of relationship satisfaction of the parents/caretakers. It is meant to explore reported relationship satisfaction, particular behaviors typically associated with relationship satisfaction, and stressors related to parenting a child (or children) with ASD. WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE? Your participation in the study may help couple and family therapists learn more about how to better serve parents raising a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in a therapy setting, and will help Mariah Brockman toward completion of his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Purdue University Calumet. QUESTIONS? If you have any questions or concerns before deciding to participate, you can contact Anne Edwards, 219-989-2863 or [email protected]. This study was approved by the institutional review board at Purdue University on 07/02/2014, protocol # 1405014897. SPREAD THE WORD! If you know people who may fit the criteria and may be interested in participating in this survey, you are welcome and encouraged to forward this information and web link to them.
