If you have a big church, and you lie to people every day, it is a statistical certainty that a few people in the church will be blessed in spite of you, and then you can call them up to testify and say your teaching works. You have to be very careful not to mention the other 99+%. NEVER bring someone up to say, I gave a thousand dollars to get the Seven Blessings of Passover, and I lost my job and got evicted. There are many people like that, but preachers hide them. Steve Munsey and the other prosperity preachers teach lies in order to get money. Some people in their congregations do well financially. The teachings are still lies. If they were true, there would be millions of millionaires in the megachurches. There arent. If you give snake oil to a thousand cancer patients, a certain number will get well, but it will have nothing to do with the snake oil. They would have gotten well anyway. I will never forget the time a pastor at my old church got up and said she gave $500 and then received $480 she didnt expect. So God gave her a 96% return! And she was so pleased, she had to testify! Thats crazy. A bank will give you 101%, plus pretty designer checks. A 96% return is a FOUR PERCENT LOSS. A business that gets 96% back on its investments will go bankrupt in a couple of years. A hundredfold return, which we always hear about from prosperity preachers, is a 10,000% return. I have never seen this happen as a result of the money gospel, and neither have you.
