If you live in PA and would consider contacting the legislators in your district, we would like to use your voice and a few minutes of your time to advocate for people with disabilities. Please go to the PAR (PA Advocacy and Resources for People with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities) Action Alert center and cut and paste this letter, or write your own. Your voice can really make a difference. Thank you! I am writing to ask that, as a legislator, you vote in favor of providing additional across-the-board state funding of $26M for rate increases of 2% for all DPW-funded, community-based services supporting people with autism and intellectual disability (ID) as is proposed in the budget for other services. Since these services and supports have not had a cost of living adjustment since FY 08-09, I believe that a cost of living adjustment is very important. Due to the current inadequacy of the rates, many providers are forced to work with fewer employees, freeze or decrease salaries, freeze or reduce employee benefits, delay the replacement of vehicles and equipment, and put off repairs and renovations to facilities except for emergency repairs. This results in fewer individuals receiving the services that they so badly need, as well as higher unemployment and an increased risk factor if needed repairs are not made. I would ask, once again, that you vote in favor of providing additional across-the-board state funding of $26M for rate increases of 2% for all DPW-funded, community based services supporting people with autism and intellectual disability. capwiz/par/issues/alert/?alertid=62688516
