If you think the political issue of one man crews on the railroad wont affect you because you dont work there, think again! Lets start by excluding the railroad employee factor itself. The risk at every public and private crossing has just increased. The hazmat these trains carry are traveling through your communities. With one man crews, you just lessened response time for incidents that can occure out there. Lets not forget to factor in having two people in the cab of an engine can keep a crew member alert to situations that are starting to arise when you have crew members that are running fatigued. Problem solving has now been lessened by half. Big deal you say? It wont happen in my community you say? Well lets take another path. One man crews cut jobs. By HALF! Can you imagine the dollar amount that will no longer be spent in your community? How many businesses will that close down? Will you lose your job? This is a snow ball effect people.
