If you want to make some prank calls to my house Be careful Under Section 474.17 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 it is an offence to use a telephony service to menace or harass, or to make calls which may be considered offensive. The criteria used by the carriers to classify unwelcome calls are: 1. Ten or more Unwelcome Calls in one day. 2. Three or more Unwelcome Calls over 2 to 5 days. 3. Unwelcome Calls made at consistent and/or regular intervals. Number of examples required: 1. Three or more examples spread over a two to five day period 2. If calls are received on 1 day a minimum of 10 examples 3. Calls/TXT must have been received within a 30 day period Types of examples that can be used: 1. Only calls which have been answered can be used as examples as unanswered calls cannot be traced. 2. Calls answered by voicemail can be used. Ensure that you capture the time that the voicemail message was deposited and not the time the message was retrieved
