If you were a kid in the 70s, you may remember an amazing Christmas display in Belding which included thousands of lights, Alvin and the Chipmunks singing, over 60 hand made characters, and Mr. and Mrs. Clause welcoming children in their tiny home. My grandmother (Arlene Venneman) along with some encouragement from her sister in-law (Becky Austin), hand drew, cut out, and painted each and every character. For over a decade, our family was able to bring a touch of holiday enchantment to our little city. We are excited to let you know, our family and friends are currently hard at work restoring the original characters, which were created in 1970, as well as updating the display with characters for our younger generation. In keeping with tradition, we will light up our display Thanksgiving night thru New Years from 6pm-11pm. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause, along with a few Elves, will be available at no charge, to greet everyone. Be sure to bring your camera! (Santa dates will be announced in November). Also, we will have Santas mail box ready to collect those letters. The commercialism of Christmas is a long ways out, but Christmas spirit couldnt come early enough. My family and I look forward to sharing our display with you on its 44 year anniversary. Warmest wishes and God bless.
