If you work at various agencies that people have to come to for help. If you are not comfortable with the demographic that your program serves and cant treat them with some respect and dignity then you are, WORKING in the wrong place. Many of you who work at AMHA, Department of Jobs and Family Service and some other agencies are past recipients of the services you are now in a position to provide for others. I know the systems how they work etc. You will NOT treat anyone connected to me as if they are less than. You are one lay off / or budget cut away from sitting on the opposite side of the desk. YES you ought to celebrate that you are no longer in need of those types of services but you should also remember how you wanted to be treated when you DID need those services. CUSTOMER SERVICE and care for people is becoming a lost art.
