Ill Get Back in the Ring with One Arm: A Story of Perseverance On June 8, 2012 professional Muay Thai fighter, Daniel Ketley was involved in a serious accident that would hinder his profession. What happened that night is still unclear, on the way to a friends home one night Ketley remembered it raining and thats where it stops. To the blind eye it looks like a motorbike accident, however his motorbike had no scrapes, either, the only damage being to the front, consistent with being hit by something, and the two rear view mirrors were smashed. Ketleys T-shirt and jeans he was wearing at the time were wet from the rain, but had no mud, gravel, rips or damage. It is believed he was hit on the head several times with something hard and then robbed of his wallet, with 400 THB inside, his insurance ID card and his mobile phone. Ketley suffered a fractured skull which required 45 stitches, haemorrhaging and compression on the brain, air bubbles in the brain, a shattered eye socket, jaw broken in three places, four lost teeth, a fractured vertebra, nerve damage to his neck and shoulder, and a fracture in the skull between his nose and upper lip. He spent five hours in surgery undergoing facial reconstruction. Ketleys injury in Brachial Plexus, a tearing of the nerves from the neck of the spinal chord, which has caused him to lose the use of his right arm. His goal is to be a Muay Thai champion and this injury is not going to stop his dream. You can still see Ketley hitting pads and doing bag work with one good arm at Tiger Muay Thai.
