Im In the process of creating a video for muzzle training. I think the pups were having fun with this mornings session. Muzzles should only be used for short periods of time and are a safety device and not a fix for a behaviour problem. You should aim to condition a dog to a muzzle prior to them needing it. I prefer the basket muzzles as they allow your dog more freedom, they can drink, pant to some degree, and you can treat through the holes. The dog is also less likely to be able to nip someone as they can with the nylon muzzles. None of my dogs have ever given me any concern regards a bite, however it is always better to be prepared. Should they be injured and in pain at some stage in the future, it is only instinct to bite. My dog see muzzle training as a fun game.
