Im a bit perturbed with how my home town is handling the situation regarding the Pottstown, Pennsylvania / Pottstown Senior High School / Pottstown School District Grigg Memorial Field Stadium lights replacement project. Well, that is the root of the problem, its NOT a Replacement Project yet. This should not even be a question to replace them!!! The Stadium where on Friday Nights, many kids played football, many bands competed, many traditions such as Homecoming have occured is threatened to lose its Lights due to old wooden poles that are likely to fall down soon to deterioration. They can withstand the weight of the old lights anymore. The wiring is going bad as well. The only thing that can be down, is they must come down. But there is the rub! There is no budget available to replace these lights. Its estimated that it will cost Pottstown School District $230-$300K for new wiring, metal poles and new high output lighting. The District is in the middle of a $800K deficit and Pottstown School District home owners already pay some of the highest taxes int he states, so no one wants to put the burden on them. What are we going to do? I have an idea. SOCIAL MEDIA people! Lets get the word out. Lets put a Save Grigg Memorial Fields Friday Night Lights cause/campaign together to generate more buzz around this situation, use the power of the people to take care of our home town, so all the future children who want to play football or be in the band have that experience enjoyed on Friday Nights under the Lights, where they belong. I dont want to simplify the math here folks, but I bet there are a 25,000 alumni, current student body families and local business that could afford to donate $10 to save these lights. Whos with me? Its gonna take everyone to do there part, share this message and actually step up and do something to help Pottstown Senior High School get their Friday Night Lights back! Im going to contact the School District today to see if there is a way to collect the donations to ensure the funds are used for this cause. John Armato, any help would be greatly appreciated sir. Thank you
