Im about to get out of here and go take some medical tests for a very important reason, but Ive got something I must get out of my system, though its not going to get out even after I post this. You mean to tell me that a victim comes to you, tells you whats going on, shows you evidence of it, and your reaction is Men will be men. Its not victims that dont come forward. To some extent, I can understand that. But its the people who see it happen, see the perpetrators every day, and do nothing about it, or use stereotypes to excuse it. These people clog the flow of justice and they sicken me over and over again. While folks sit around and wait for something to be done to a wrong doer, that wrong doer continues to do things to other people. Abuse is abuse, and as Bishop Desmond Tutu once said, If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If your job is a defender, an educator, a person with responsibility, and thats all of us, you shouldnt let people do this. Mei Dei; Weih Deih. Guts arent for sale.
