Im actually sort of disturbed that we dont have a billion-dollar project to attempt communication with cetaceans, the aliens that live on our planet. Ive speculated about embassies to cetaceans and elephants, with an ongoing, intense effort to talk to them. I imagine raising human children ambassadors in close proximity to wild baby elephants, learning from each other as they grow, meanwhile using low-frequency listening devices and computers to decipher whatever communication elephants are projecting at each other. I consider it one of the main sins of religion that it tainted early science with the idea to Assume all animals are totally different from we god-created higher beings and focus on the differences, rather than the more interesting and potentially-more-productive assume theyre a great deal like us and focus on the similarities.
