Im gonna go out on a limb and ask you people on here who reside in these Western countries, and even in the islands do you think equal opportunity is what it is cracked up to be? All I ask is that you stop thinking about your own lives and how you made something of yourself in America, Canada, England or where ever else and picture these two scenarios that represent what era opportunity is: equal opportunity is four men placed in an orchard to pick oranges, three of the men are close to seven feet, one is only five feet tall. They were all placed in the orchard with all the same tools but at the end of the day the three tall men had loads of fruit, the shortest man had none! Equal opportunity is sending kids with no breakfast to learn in the same class with children who had their choice of toast, eggs, yogurt, etc, with racist white teachers who all ready have their judgments about them and their parents and expecting them to succeed! There are exceptional stories where some of us overcome these odds, but to sit there and think we were all made the same way is foolish. When people throw around equal opportunity think before you jump on their bandwagon! I dont! And dare most people to tell me I had equal opportunity, its one of those feel good phrases people use to justify how they unjustly accumulate wealth while others live without the bare necessities. My rant is over!#lifeofasocialworker:)
