Im listening to this on audio-books.... its interesting to hear the description of the hidden valley at 10,000 feet, never before seen by the west..... until in 1945 a military plane went over New Guinea and noticed this large valley with dozens of villages, tens of thousands of people living with no contact with the outside world. One pilot wrote to his family of how the people had never seen aplane before and the fields with working people was evacuated with them all running into the jungle. The watchtowers with which they kept watch from other tribes (huge intertribal warfare there) were filled with fellow climbing down with 15 spears... men were shooting arrows at the plane.... This was 68 years ago.... and these tens of thousands were living a stone age existence. This video (it cuts off after a few minutes) shows the same mountain tribesmen helping the military men working their way down the mountain after one of their planes crashes. Its just amazing to think of the change in those folks from then to now....I think of the changes some of my ancestors lived... horse drawn plows and wagons in even the time of my parents when they were young... but to go form a stone-age lifestyle with no knowledge of a world beyond the surrounding mountain tops to the modern age in a short span is mind-boggling. The human mind is very adaptable and able to grasp new concepts when presented in a manner to ensure their viability. Airplanes are viable.
