Im on the scrounge - but only for opinions! Our department is putting together a new M.Com. course, which means that instead of doing a 3 year undergraduate only course which leads to a BSc, we will fill up their summertime with extra units. A Computer Science BSc is 360 credits (120 each at level 4,5 and 6) and we will compress those by moving some of the credits into each summer break. We will then use the time saved to add in 120 credits from level 7 (Masters level) so that students leave with a more focused skillset and a deeper level of knowledge. Does anyone working in the industry think this is a good idea? Will this give better employees? I know John Wells will have an opinion - how about anyone else?
