Im posting this for my dear friend Mark Hawley who has been reminscing with me via email about our old days playing together. Mark is an amazing musician (with perfect pitch) who even as a 13 year-old could figure out complex chord structures to songs by The Beatles, The Byrds and any other band we chose to cover. He was our secret song-figuring-out machine and ensured that the covers we used to do - whether or not credibly performed or sung - at least had the *correct* chords. That alone set us apart as a band. Years later when Sue Logg and I were gigging and recording in LA with our retro-band The Chimes of Freedom, I thought many times how perfect it would have been if Mark had moved down to California and been in our band with us.
