Im signing up for the new Amazon Local Register... their answer to Square... I have to order the card reader but we will see ... so far the only pain was that I needed to use a different email account and set it up as its own Amazon account. Apparently theyve had a bunch of negative feedback about that and are working to allow you to use your current account. Honestly I try to keep some of that stuff separate. I did however share my prime shipping with my business account so I get the free 2 day shipping. The card reader is $10 but they refund that by waiving the first $10 in processing fees. They are running a special until Oct that gives me a 1.75% swipe rate until Jan 2016 and then it goes to 2.5%... apparently it wont work on all phones. I downloaded the app via Google Play and it was perfect. Two big gripes I saw in the reviews had to do with them reserving funds for keyed in transactions. I worked in credit card fraud.. and I also know other processors will hold funds if the card isnt swiped. It is because of all the hacking and getting card info. It protects the card holder from someone using this system to charge no existent stuff and have the funds immediately available to them. The other complaint was the need to enter your SSN or EIN.. hello!!??? have you been living under a rock? All the mobile card processors are required by law to have that info so they can report your income once it is over $20,000 or 200 transactions. Ill order the reader tomorrow and have a show in Sept Ill use it at and report back.
