Im still not sure who this Gordon is but he seems to have the same friends as Dayzi - and more than Brian, so I will post this here: Rant warning: We all do it. This is one... fingers flying over the keyboard, hopefully what I put here makes sense! I have had a long career of dealing with many kinds of personalities and for the most part I am one of those people who sees the value in all – after all, what kind of world would this be if we were all the same? And I’m generally not one to put labels, but what I notice most (and this can be somewhat attributed to the “safety net” of social media) is the affect that passive aggressive “pokes” have on myself and the people around me. I have many character flaws of my own –and we all have stresses, but those which put the most stress in my life seem to be I am a “people pleaser”, I am non-confrontational to a fault, I have difficulty standing up for what I believe in and expressing myself clearly when confronted. But don’t get me started on my own insecurities …. those are works in progress. Always have been, always will. Luckily, for the most part my glass remains half full! Facebook is not the “real world” either, but wow! In my Polyanna world, I still tend to see the good and the positive in people – they can’t really be that passive aggressive can they? Surely I misunderstand. Maybe that’s what they count on. I recently have stepped down from my volunteer duties with an organization I love. An organization whose members work hard to make a difference in the world around us. An organization (like most) that requires team work to get the job done. I certainly would NEVER discredit the volunteer time that people choose to give to the many worthy organizations that are out there. And for the right reasons. But for myself it has, by my choice, caused me to put many things on the back burner while focusing on the work at hand. I have worked hard and will continue to do so for the causes I believe in, but I will also look at my priorities and has been quoted so many times remember that “real life comes first”! Facebook, and electronic media in general, sometimes removes the “human touch” – but at the same time allows us to build a broad social network that would otherwise be impossible. It is a double edged sword. So as users of social media we also need to look at our own responsibilities to make the world, our world, a better place. Lately there have been so many posts about building those positive relationships and removing the toxic ones from our lives – I have a whole collection of facebook photos and postcards - some have caused me to laugh, some to reflect, and some to cry. And so it is a balance. And as such, now you will see me work on that balance – as you may have already. Prioritizing. So as with Jeff, expect to see postings about everyday lives. Our children, our grandchildren, our families – both blood and chosen, our friends, our commitment to community. The things that are important to us. Rant over. (Was that a rant, or therapy, or both?)
