Im sure some of you are already aware, but for those who havent heard, as of yesterday I no longer work for The Press and Standard newspaper. Thanks to all those who worked with me over the last three and half years (nine years for you old timers who were here when I was doing freelance sports work during college), and made my job usually fun, easy and rewarding. I learned so much, got to tell some terrific stories, became a better journalist, matured, and gained a better understanding and appreciation for my community and the people who live and work here. If there was a time when my reporting was beneath your expectations, or when you felt I was unfair, I apologize and assure you that it was never intentional or personal. Ill always cherish my time working for my hometown newspaper, and the hard-working, dedicated coworkers and loyal readers with whom I was able to share it. I can only hope that one day my path will lead me back and allow me to carry on the proud tradition of providing faithful, truthful, meaningful community journalism The Press upheld for many years. To my friends and family -- thanks for your support and love, and while this has come at an unfortunate time, please know that Hannah and I are fine and will not be wanting for or lacking anything in the coming weeks and months as I search for a new job. Ive always prided myself on being able when I was thrown into water over my head to swim rather than sink, or at least float for a while until I could swim. And I dont plan on starting sinking now. So its on to bigger and better, hopefully, and I look forward to sharing with you all my next step -- in journalism or in some other line of work. Stay tuned ...
