Im sure that everybody upset about the Christmas trees has theyre blood pressure back in normal range, so lets see if we can get them going again with this one. Okay, while not exactly a quilt, it does have two layers of batting in it! Ive been working on the last day and a half... I wanted a patriotic tree, red white and blue. My intent was a tree that could be used not just for Christmas but Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Veterans Day... Since its multi-holiday, I wont call it a Christmas Tree but a LIBERTY TREE! The first two pictures flag print and Army seal) are the back. The front, the eagle on the tree skirt and striped blue of the tree is upholstery fabric. These are the same fabrics used in the Senate Offices in DC. I was given this fabric from the estate of a friend who passed recently. She had worked on capital hill for years and this was the remnants from when she had some chairs redone. I have more work to do as it will have LED lights and various jewels and bobbles for decorations but Im pretty happy with it. One, I used some fabric that would have just otherwise been tossed (barely had enough to do this). Two, it is multifunctional (multiple holidays). Three, most importantly, it will long be a reminder of a friend who is no longer with us. Many great memories shared. There was no more patriotic person or one who appreciated decorating for holidays especially Christmas.
