Im taking it easy today...restocking both myself and trade goods. - TopicsExpress

Im taking it easy today...restocking both myself and trade goods. Tomorrow, the auction. Ahhhh, the ole auction. From 8 until about noon, every Wen. Items sold are from produce to what one has in old sheds and attics, collectibles, antiques, and all inbetween. The Stockyard Auction has been a local event since the 1800s, and only one Wen was missed due to the flood. A great meeting place for sharing the gossip locally and beyond. Afternoon, cattle and other livestock are auctioned (I have never stayed for that as such is not my cup-of-tea). I have Friends that are working at opening a shop. I have been privileged to set up there, outside. Much of the traffic I have not seen since I shut down my shops, years back, and it was like ole home week. I have decided to reinstate my position of Trade, which is no different than any other encounter with the Peoples and any/all exchanges. I hope to be an example of fair and decent Trade. Such is all I can be. Such is all I desire to be. Yet, it came to my attention yesterday that my prices are too high. Example: I pay (or trade) 5 dollars for something, it is worth 50 dollars (sometimes more), I ask 6 dollars, and still, there is always someone that thinks such is too high...cannot satisfy everyone...nor do I desire to. They can go to Wal-Mart. If you have been reading these timeline post, you may have seen where I was ranting about ethics in/during trade. Rather, the lack of ethics, in and during trade. In shop, booth, tent, or any one-on-one trade, the right of such said trade is for those immediately involved, and any/all other would be interested parties need to wait until the transaction has ended before becoming involved, unless invited. Cut-throat behavior is a no-no in my book. Now an auction situation is different. The auction house is an any/all situation where the best man (or woman) desiring an item (with the means to obtain), obtains said item. The going behind backs, jumping in between the one-on-one deal is distasteful to my way of thinking, and I just simply will not assume that position...and I tend to shy away from those that are of such a disposition. On another note, rain today. Oh...did I mention that one of my painting sold? A Friend and fellow Artist purchased it (I believe it was mentioned on the timeline somewhere). Another painting (one I had many hours, days, weeks in) took to the wind. Now, such is a product of ole Mike, and, the force of Nature. I will not alter it. The scuffs, scratches, raking of gravel lends a different perspective. It is now back on my wall. I have not made my quota for Winter feed for the Animals as of yet. Soooo, I shall venture out again this coming Fri, Sat and Sun...if weather permits. Now, I gotta get about the day, do what needs to be done...they come and go so so fast. Be safe...think it through...a second time, a third if in doubt. The third is the charmer. And ifn you dont enjoy something...if what you are doing is making you miserable, you need to change your perspective, or, put whatever it is that is making you miserable, behind you and move on. Life, in this mode, this time, is too short to frivolously waste on people and things that have absolutely no bearing on your personal journey. Live to where youve no regrets.
