Im too smart for this... I woke up and saw a post by Josh Lang and had to correct him so here are the facts 500 megatons of uncontrolled plutonium and uranium atoms would cause a global catastrophe, the biggest nuclear bomb ever exploded was the Tsar Bomba by russia and windows were broken from it 500 miles away so 450 megatons is useless, most of the blast and ash would go into the ozone layer and spread throughout the planet causing mass blackout and radiation sickness because of the material falling from the sky, the biggest nuclear bomb Americans ever set off was a 20 megaton bomb at bikini atoll in the pacific... this blast was uncontrolled and highly dangerous killing hundreds in the surrounding islands from radioactive particles settling on the earth which are toxic so if a bomb of 500 megatons was used, I think its safe to say earth is a toaster with water poured on it, destroyed. .. so no it is extremely unsafe to detonate that big of a bomb.
