Imagine for Sarah Handley. I ran out of ideas. Sorrys. “Mommmmmmmy!” Imagine hearing shouts like that from across the house. You look up and smile at your husband who had just come through the back door, leaving no time for a reunion. “In here, darling,” you call back. “In the Kitchen.” A few moments later, a young girl of three with bright red hair comes bursting into the room, having had enough time playing with her toys in the other room. “What can I do-” she trails off, stopping short when she sees Dan. “Daddy!” She grins a toothy grin before launching herself into his arms (he had to bend down so she could get herself into his arms). “I missed wou!” Dan had gotten back from tour literally seconds before. He wanted to come back early, to surprise your daughter, and you couldn’t say no to that. Good thing he had gotten there when he had, and not a few seconds later as the surprise would have been ruined. “I missed you too, pumpkin,” he grins, laughing. “Here, I got you something,” he says, pulling the backpack off his shoulder. It falls to the floor with a plop, and he bends down to open it, with your little girl still in his embrace. He pulls out a cute stuffed giraffe, which was wearing a “New York Zoo” shirt. It was beyond adorable, and you couldn’t help but grin as you knew that Dan had spent ages pouring over shelves trying to find the perfect thing to bring back home for your daughter. She squeals. “I love it!” She lets go of Dan to give it a giant squeeze. If it wasn’t for his arms around her, she would have fallen to the ground in her haste to show her love of her newest friend. “I’m glad you like it. It came from New York,” Dan explains, starting some long story of his New York concert. You can’t help but smile wider when you remember: New York had been their first show. He had kept the toy the entire length of the tour. “Let’s go play!” Your daughter says, wiggling out of his grasp to get to the floor. “Play! Play!” You both laugh, finding her to be extremely adorable at all times. Even when she whined, she had the most precious dimple. No one could say no to that. “Sure, Pumpkin!” He laughs, kissing the top of her head. “Go get your toys ready. Mommy and I will be in there soon.” She ran off without another word, to go get her thins from her room. “Hey,” Dan says, smiling softly at you. “I missed you.” “I missed you too,” you sigh, rushing into his arms. “I don’t know why I keep letting you leave,” you joke. “Hey, it wasn’t so bad,” he said, grabbing you into a stronger embrace. “It was over soon enough. I just can’t wait until you can start coming on tour with me again.” You smiled at that. You usually went on tour with him, but after you gave birth, you both decided it would be better if you waited the first few years before going on tour with him. Soon, however, you would both be able to go on tour. “I think the only thing that I hated was the fact that I couldnt do this,” Dan smirks slightly, leaning in to kiss you. “MOMMY! DADDY! HURRY UP! YOU’RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR THE TEA PARTY!” You both pull away with a laugh, grinning at one another. “She’s your daughter,” you shrug. “I wouldnt have it any other way,” he grins, leaning in to give you one last quick peck. “Now, let’s go have the more epic tea party in history.”
