Imagine your family pet losing bladder control and eventually - TopicsExpress

Imagine your family pet losing bladder control and eventually dying of kidney failure -- when just three weeks earlier, she was completely healthy. Alda Wirsches Yorkshire Terrier Rosie suffered this fate after being fed Vitalife pet treats bought at Costco in Calgary, Alberta. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident -- the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) believes that Vitalife and dog treats similar to what Rosie consumed are the likely cause of over a thousand dog deaths in North America. Whats worse are allegations from former employees at Normerica, the company that imports Vitalife. They admit to unsanitary business practices that would make anyone sick: repackaging moldy dog treats that have been sitting for years, and then putting new expiry dates on the package. Other pet companies have agreed to pull Normerica dog treats from their shelves -- yet Costco continues to sell the product. Tell Costco to pull Normerica dog treats from its shelves until the safety of the companys products have been investigated. Despite the FDA’s evidence, Costco continues to say that the link between the treats and dog deaths are inconclusive. For pet owners and animal lovers, however, the risk is too high. These products should be removed from sale until investigators find an answer to why so many pets have died. “I am so angry, and I can’t believe Rosie is gone because of this,” said Alda Wirsche. “The treats are still on the shelf. No one is listening. They’re not listening.” Its time Costco took responsibility for the safety of the products it sells. Call on Costco to put pets before profits. Tell Costco to remove these dangerous treats so that no more pets have to die.
