Important Economic Event: UK Current Account and GDP (QoQ) (Q3)- 09:30 GMT, 23 December 2014 The #current #account is another name for the #trade #balance. This is a measure of the difference between net imports and net exports in the UK economy. The #UK is currently running a current account deficit of -23.1bn, which is expected to decrease to -21.1bn. A current account deficit means that there are more imports and exports into the UK economy, and a smaller deficit could potentially have a bullish effect on the #Sterling. This is likely because a smaller deficit implies a lower level of debt needed to cover the deficit by the government. Gross Domestic Product (#GDP) is the change in the value of goods and services produced in an economy, adjusted for inflation. The final reading for the quarter-on-quarter UK third quarter GDP is expected to remain at 0.7%.
