In 1952, on the island of Koshima, a strange phenomenon was observed in a study of Macaque monkeys. Sweet potatoes, when thrown to the monkeys, would fall in to the sand. One young female Macaque quickly discovered that by washing the sweet potatoes in the ocean before eating their favorite human handouts, not only would it wash off the sand, but add flavor. The young Macaque was something of an entrepreneur, teaching first her mother and then other young monkeys in the group, who then taught their own parents. It wasnt long before almost every monkey on the island of Koshima had acquired this learning. An incredible thing happened soon after. Macaques on another Japanese island, who had absolutely no contact with the educated monkeys of Koshima, began exhibiting the same behavior by washing their sweet potatoes in the sea before consumption. This phenomenon is known as the Hundredth Monkey Effect, and it is basis for ICANs Global Unification Campagn. International Childrens Awareness Network (ICAN) invites you to endeavor in a worldwide experiment of this phenomenon by influencing 1% of the worlds population. There are over 7 billion people living on this planet. If 1/100 of the world population were to come together and perform a small, intentional act, we believe this number of people doing something together will not only significantly impact the world for the better, but the idea that we are all doing it together may be powerful enough to shift humanity away from its polarized path and towards a more unified human family. Seventy million people is 1/100 of the world population, and one idea is that if these seventy million people donated 3 cents a day, one dollar a month, 11 dollars a year to the small to mid-size ngo, sustainable project or educational organization of their choice whether they look to find it on our ICAN site or research and find one on their own, the amount of money going to projects throughout the world would reach to an additional 770 million a year. But we a have deep sense this would only be the tip of the iceberg. My father, Richie Ogulnick, wrote a treatise in 1984 entitied The Declaration of Responsibility, which states that all of Earths children have the undeniable right to receive food, clothing, shelter, and also education. Now three decades later, with the existence of social media and the power it has to impact the world, we can come together to accomplish a transcendence of boundaries . Social media has the potential to grow out of its adolescence and provide us with tools we need to intentionally do something TOGETHER for the first time in human history. ICAN is not a charity, We want it to be a social media platform where people can go to the site and actually see in real time the projects they are directly sending their money to. Monies people contribute will go directly from the people to the projects and ICAN will document all that is going on through real time live stream and video. We want people to go to the site and be able to witness where their pennies are going. To make this vision a reality, we are asking talented filmmakers, and social media experts to assist us in creating a 2-3 minute video that will reach millions and millions of people. The video can be only a couple of minutes long but must be creative, dynamic and, compelling. It must capture this message in such a way as to inspire millions of people to participate in this first ever global experiment. . And we want this video to inspire at least 1 percent of the global population to sign The Declaration of Responsibility. To find out more and to become a part of our vision, please contact my father at ibeginagain@aol skype contact name is nisarg9631 and check out our website at ICANRevolution.org to better understand our missions and goals. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
