In 1972 I was living in San Francisco and dating the trumpet - TopicsExpress

In 1972 I was living in San Francisco and dating the trumpet player for the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Jack Wickert. He invited me to a party where most of the cast were in attendance. I brought my friend Rhonda Goodman whom I had convinced to hitch hike with me from Phila, where I had come home for a visit, to check out the west coast where I had been living for a little over a year. At the party I met a bright, vivacious young man named Rob and we chatted for a bit. Rhonda struck it up with his girlfriend Cecily who invited her to visit them at their place. I really didnt care much for Cecily who put on exaggerated airs, I can still hear the wildly theatrical way she said her name when we were introduced. A few days later we made it to their place in the neighborhood of Twin Peaks where they were living in a house that was strangely situated on an island of green with the arms of highway entrances and exits surrounding and engulfing them and had evidently been responsible for the demise of what must have been the former neighbors of this one surviving structure. Well, you could sure make any racket you pleased and not disturb anyone else thats for sure. I wish I could remember more of what happened. All I do remember was the Rob was a wonderfully gracious host, we had a lovely time and he had a most wonderful regular Punch and Judy puppet theater in the living room. It wasnt until many years later that I realized that Rob was indeed a very young Robin Williams. I am so saddened by his tragic end, so sorry for his suffering and despair. Im sure he could have come out of it with time, what an awful loss and unfortunate way to end his brilliant career. RIP Robin Williams
