In April 2012, all the major & many thousands of minor English-language media outlets disseminated this story ("U.S.-Japan deal withdraws 9,000 Marines from Okinawa"). However residents of Okinawa noticed what appeared to be more Marines, with no evidence that they were leaving anytime soon... In May 2013, a few minor outlets reported that the US said it would take over a decade to remove any Marines & that US Marine Corps will deploy more navy aircraft squadrons to Okinawa in June. The aircraft will include four CH-53E Super Stallion and four Bell AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters. The squadrons may be deployed at the Futenma Air Station. In April 2013, a CH-53E Super Stallion based at Futenma caught fire when it landed in South Korea. Ryukyu Shimpo: On June 24, the Ginowan City Assembly unanimously adopted a protest resolution and a statement of written opinion on the United States Marine Corps redeployment. The Corps is planning to send more Marines to Okinawa…
