In April of 1813, Elkton was successfully defended by militia at Forts Hollingsworth and Defiance. However, just a couple of days later, Havre de Grace was not so lucky. Parts of the town were burned by British forces. Next week the Havre de Grace Maritime museum will feature a lecture and discussion with local historian Diane Klair: Havre de Grace Before the War of 1812 - April 30 at 7pm. The talk will center on the structures that survived the burning.
