My dd is almost 10 months now. Ive read about not giving grains until 1-2 years of age so I stayed away from the rice cereal and baby oatmeal. However, I was unaware that the Gerber snacks Ive been giving over the last month contain nothing but grains and starch, both of which I dont want to give. Now that I know this, I want to go in a different direction and find something healthier for her for snacks. A friend of mine suggested going gluten free, but Im worried about it being enough? Should I find gluten free snacks and bread and cereal to give her or is it ALL grains that I need to be staying away from? From what I can figure out - gluten free means its free of wheat, barley and rye. What other things are grains made of other than those three that I need to steer clear of? Do I need to stay away from ALL breads, etc and not just gluten free? And what about rice? And rice snacks? Too many starches to give that? Im just really confused as to what is best and really want to give her what will be healthiest for her.-Heather
