In January 2012, mom visited the doctor for a regular scan 18 weeks into her pregnancy. The tech went silent, excusing herself saying she needed to get someone. A doctor entered the room, looked over the ultrasound, and suddenly said, “Your baby has a little leg.” Diagnosed with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency, Oscar said hello world on July 2nd! Since then, he has learned to crawl his own way, stand in his walker, walk in a gait trainer, and even walk with forearm crutches ... things that he was not expected to do. Apparently, that’s just the way Oscar is! Whether it’s dancing to his favorite show (Austin and Ally), swinging, playing with his brothers and sister, Oscar always gives it his all. :) This happy little camper recently took his first miracle flight to the Paley Advanced Limb Lengthening Institute at St. Mary Medical Center in FL, where Dr. Paley gave mom and dad some good news ... and Oscar is now scheduled for super hip/knee/ankle surgery in January, the first step toward the ultimate goal of walking on his own!
