In Mar Georges Church, Baghdad, Muslims join their fellow Christians as they recite the Iraqi National Anthem, Mowtini [My Homeland]. The signs which the Muslims hold up say, I am Baghdadi; I am Mosuli...and I am Iraqi; I am Christian. This is in support of the Christian community of Mosul which was expelled yesterday by ISIS. Beautiful. Before the recent developments in Mosul, the same song was recited in a Syrian church. The poem originally was penned by a Palestinian poet, Ibrahim Touqan and composed by Lebanese artist, Muhammad Fleifel. Post-2003 Iraq adapted the poem as a national anthem, yet the poem carries resonance in other countries, too. Either way, people in Iraq, Syria, and in Gaza - where the poem originally was penned - all can relate to this song, titled, My Homeland. #انا_عراقي_انا_مسيحي #IAmIraqiIAmChristian
